MEET MIKE HYDE

  • Mike Hyde is a physical therapist at Hayden Physical Therapy.
  • He became interested in theis career when he was a young teen. He had always been the kid with the bandaids and he had needed physical therapy after suffering a sports injury.
  • Mike got his job after graduating from the University of Indiana.

BECOMING A PT

  • Highschool graduate
  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy
  • Usually 4-6 years of college
  • (Psychology courses are recomended)

A pt'S dUTIES

  • Work hours: About 40 hours/week
  • Things that PT's do:
  • They have to use ultrasound machines
  • Educate on how to heal and prevent injuries
  • Talk
  • Do theraputic exercises with patients

SALARY AND bENIFITS

  • $55,000-$60,000 anually (depending on the setting)
  • $85,000-$90,000 annually (depending on experience)

  • Aid: person who sets up patients' exercise machines, fill out charts and medical information, etc.
  • Physical Therapist: performs physical therapy on patients and tend to work with more severe cases and injuries

  • I dressed in the propper attire
  • I looked around the building

  • I watched more physical therapy being performed
  • I talked about sports and injuries with the Aids and the PTs
  • I learned about joint movement
  • I went home after being ther from 8:00am-7:00pm

CAREER iNTEREST

  • Physical therapy is a career that I will consider in the future. It is part of the medical field, and also has a psychological aspect to it.
  • It is an interesting career where you get to work with people with different kinds of injuries.
  • However, it doesn't have much action.
