PERSONAL LIFE

  • Born January 16, 1821 in Lexington, Kentucky
  • Father died from "prevailing fever"
  • He married Mary Cyrene Burch and they had 6 kids

EARLY HISTORY

  • Started a law office in Burlington, Iowa - Had the most cases ever
  • After his father died his family moved to Lexington where he studied at the Pisgah academy in Woodford county

CONTRIBUTION

  • He fought in civil way with Confederacy - Later became the secretary of war

LEGACY

  • Many towns were named after him like (Breckinridge, Colorado, Breckinridge, Minnesota, and Breckinridge, Texas)
  • He also has a memorial made for him that is placed on the Fayetteville county courthouse lawn in 1887

MAJOR ACCOMOLISHEMNTS

  • He was the youngest Vice President ever.

DEATH

  • May 1875 at the age of 54 from cirrhosis
