In his early life he attended Cleveland business college. At age16 he became an office assistant and at age 20 he worked at a commissions merchant.
In 1863 he opened his first oil refinery. His company grew so much that he almost controlled all the oil refineries. His company had a net worth of $55 million.
John Rockefeller came up with transporting his oil by pipelines rather then trains. This slowly put a hold on railroads.
He changed the nature and landscape of American business for good. He was known as one of the most leading business men in America. His oil industry helped change America by transporting oil products.
