INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

  • The Industrial Revolution Changed the way things were made
  • New machines meant it was possible to mass produce goods in factories
  • Started in Britain and spreading through Europe and North American
  • A period of rapid social economic change Began
  • A BEGINNING OF THE NEW EAR .........

THE BEGINNING OF THE Revolution

  • Thomas Jefferson Embargo act and the war of 1812 stop halted the industrial revolution
  • Though in 1813 three Bostonina mechanized all three stages of producing cloth.
  • It Begin in Waltham Massachusetts. It begin when the three Bostonians Revolutionized cloth making
  • The start was because of the textile industries.
  • The Iron making teckniques and the increased in used of refined coal.

Wealth

  • The money flow through out the nation increased immensely
  • The factories mass production brought money faster
  • The factories brought Positive cash flow with cheap labor

Population

  • The Population increased greatly toward the north and the south
  • Southern population increased more because of the production of cotton
  • Huge number of people moved to the cities for low paid jobs
  • Though most small farmers were forced to moved because of lack of money flow
  • However most end up living in cities that could not support the families

ECONOMICAL SPLIT

  • Northern wanted to change Economic condition
  • Invested their capital in factories and manufacturing operation
  • Cash crop did not grow well in the Northern soil and climate
  • Slavery was also not big in the north because there was no much use for them

Southern

  • THey had huge profit from the cotton production
  • They cared little about industrialization
  • Slavery was big because of picking of cotton

TEXTILE INDUSTRY

  • The demand for cloth grew, so the merchants had to compete for the supplies
  • This was a problem because the product was at higher cost
  • The soulution was to use machinery which was cheaper then product made by hand
  • Textile industry revolutionized by converting threat into cloth and ready to be sewn into the clothing
  • Instead of making the clothing from thread

CASH CROP

  • Cotton was the most profitably cash crop in the Industrial revolution
  • Cotton was a great demand in the Britain and many other countries
  • Though cotton was easier to grow but it was really hard to pick and Seperate
  • Then a man name Eli Whitney came up with an invention that changes the course for the Southern
  • The Cotton Gin an engine which could seperate the cotton from the its seeds and save the time and effort

SLAVES

  • Though slaves trade declined during the American Revolution
  • By the 1820 slave trade started to sky rocket
  • More slaves were being brought to America because of cotton.
  • By the 1800 more the 1.3 million slaves were brought to pick cotton
  • However the increased was only in the south the north still didn't needed slaves to much

INDUSTRIAL SPLIT

  • Madison notice the economical split and decided to unify the country
  • His plan was to build transpotation throghtout the nation
  • Establishing a protective tarriff
  • Restore the national bank
  • It was known as the American system

AMERICAN SYSTEM

  • It explain that North would produce the manufactured good the famers in the South and west would buy
  • South and west would supply and produce grain, meat and cotton which is needed in the North
  • Nationally Accepted currency
  • Improved transportation that would facilitate the exchange in good
  • This would help us become economically Independent from Britain and Europe

TRANSPOTATION

  • Transportation good was done by canal and road, rail roads were not yet made
  • Contruction of the national roads begin in 1811. By 1825 they were extended all over the state
  • Roads were a lot more effective then Canals
  • Erie Canals however strected 363 miles and took eight years to create

TARIFF

  • Tariff were imposed on Good By President Madison and promoted to the nation by Clay
  • This idea was brought in because of the British good being sold war above then American Good
  • Madison idea for putting a Tariff on import would help increase the cost of foreign good.
  • It would also help pay for Internal Improvement For road canals and light houses.

People Reaction

  • The Northern were happy about the protective tariff
  • South and west did not depend on manufacturing were not so eager to tax the people
  • Souther also did not want the goverment to be any part of the trade or raising prices.
  • Though clay was from South Carolina and so he was able to sway congress to pass the bill

SECOND BANK

  • Most leaders agree to the second bank idea.
  • The Second bank would help make a currency be accepted nation wide.
  • Which would help the people do business in the nation a lot more easily
