John Kay
Who?
John Kay was born in England to an English family. As he got older he followed his fathers path and got involved in the wooden business. After all his success he moved to France and ended up dying in obscurity.
What?
He was an English machinist and inventor. After seeing previous faults in the existing weaving looms. So he took it upon himself to invent the flying shuttle, which was able to weave cloth much faster and could make it as wide as you wanted. It revolutionised the weaving looms.
When?
It was on the 26th of May 1733 which he created this engineering marvel.
Where?
He designed and built his flying shuttle in England which was where he was born but after people refused to pay his royalty prices for adopting his invention, moved to France where he died.
Why?
This important invention was recognised for the increased yarn consumption which spurred on inventions for future spinning machines.
Summary
This invention was one of many that started and pushed the industrial revolution to what is said about it today.
