EARLY YEARS OF JOHN SMITH
Smith born in January1580, in Alford, Lincolnshire, England.
Went to school at a louth( which is a nearby market place.)
When father in 1596 passed he inherited his fathers farm.
In 1597- 1599 became part of the Netherlands English troops.
1600 went to Hungary to fight against Turks.

CAPTAIN SMITH MIDDLE YEARS
In 1601 landed in Vienna and banded with the imperial army.
In 1602 he was challenged by two Turks in one on one combat.
He killed both them himself then challenged another man who also died.
1602 in November he was found wounded on the battle field and taken a slave.

In 1603 Smith was taken to Constantinople as a slave.
He was then transferred across the black sea to a man who abused him.
John killed owner and escaped, then after a couple of years he returned to the Holy Roman Empire.
In December of 1606 they set out for America with over100 colonists on three ships.
In 1607, they arrived in March in the west indies. Then reached Chesapeake Bay in late April.

In 1608, Smith was taken to Powhatan and was saved by Pocahontas, his daughter.
In 1609, Smith returned to England because was burned of explosion.
He worked on publishing a map of Virginia, in the years 1610 to 1611. Fininshed map in 1612.
Smith sailed back to America in March of 1614. Named one of the colonies New England.
In 1615, he attempted to sail back to America but got captured by pirates. Escaped, went to France and then went home to England.

LATER YEARS OF JOHN SMITH
In 1616 John wrote a book about his trip to New England.
