When Depp was 7 years old, he moved from his home in Kentucky to Miramar, Florida. He really, really didn't like it there. To escape reality, he started drugs, alcohol, and self harm at 12.

When he was 15, Depp's parents divorced. To pursue his love of music, he dropped out of high school to join a garage band called "The Kids". He ended up living in a friend's car for several months.

Depp got out of trouble when he married his first wife, Lori Allison, a makeup artist. She knew actor Nicolas Cage, who got Depp into acting. He and Allison divorced in 1986.

After his debut on nightmare on elm street (1984), Depp began to study acting, and he became very successful.

In the 1990's, Depp started to date supermodel Kate Moss. They had a relationship filled with drugs and fighting, putting them on the headlines. In 1994, Depp trashed a hotel room in New York and blamed an armadillo.

Depp has worked on many more movies since then. Some are; the Pirates of the Caribbean Series, Charlie and the chocolate factory (2005), Alice in Wonderland (2010), Rango (2011), the Lone Ranger (2013), Mortdecai (2015), and much more.

Depp got completely out of drugs and alcohol just last year. His story has been used on many drug and alcohol rehabilitation sites. It is clear that his story has inspired others to change their ways.

Depp had two kids with his old girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis; Lily-Rose Melody Depp (1999) and Jack John Christopher Depp III (2002). He has been dating Amber Heard since 2012.
