August 17, 1803-November 30, 1835

Childhood Info.

  • Joseph was born on August 17, 1803 in Passavant, in the Doubs department of France.
  • His parents names were Vinzenzo and Ann Marie Marello. His mother died while jospeh was at a yound age.
  • At the age of twelve Joseph joined the seminary.
  • Showed great interest in the Catholic church as a kid.
  • Was a very holy kid at a young age.

JOSPEH MARCHAND'S BIRTH PLACE

VOCATION

  • At the age of 19 he studied to be ordained into priesthood.
  • He was then ordained by the age of 19.
  • Jospesh's feast day is November 30.

MYSTICAL QUALITIES

  • St. Joseph Marchand was not able to levitate or be two places at once.
  • He was able to speak in tongues though.

MANNER OF DEATH

  • Joseph Marchand died November 30, 1835.
  • He was 32 when he died.
  • He was martyred.
  • A group of people used tongs to pull off his skin.

AFTER DEATH

  • He was canonized on June 19, 1988 by Pope John Paul the secod.
  • St. Joseph Marchand did not any miracles after death.
  • His body was very damaged.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • He was a French missionary in Vietnam.
  • Was held as a prisoner for 18 months.
  • He overruled the Citadel of Saigon for two years before he was killed.
