Smith's Visions:
While Smith was praying in a wooded area near his home he said that God, in a vision, had told him his sins were forgiven and that churches had turned away from the gospel.

Smith's Visions: Smith had another vision where he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. An angel directed him to a buried book of golden plates which had the title "Judeo-Christian history."
