After Lenin's death, Joseph Stalin, his assistant, took control of
the Soviet Union.

Stalin stayed in power by taking people's basic rights.
If you broke his rules, you would be killed.
He killed about 20 million people who were against him.
6.
HERO OR A VILLAIN?
During his era, most people hated him as a dictator, but some called him a hero..
Even though he killed 20 million people, Stalin industrialized Russia very quickly
by building factories, and improving transportation systems, and made Russia a strong
nation. Therefore Stalin was a hero not just a villain.
