THE JUAMANOS

LOCATED IN THE MOUNTAINS AND BASINS

SHELTER

  • They lived in flat roofed houses.
  • The building material was adobe.
  • They stacked on top like apartments.
  • They were not nomadic.
  • The houses are called pueblos

FOOD

  • They were farmers and fishers
  • They ate vegetables from their gardens
  • They ate fish provided by the many rivers
  • They will also send out gatherers for berries

CLOTHING

  • The men only wore body paint and feathers on their head
  • While the woman would ware leather waist down only
  • Only on special occasions would woman ware a leather dress

TOOLS

  • Needles out of bone splinters
  • Small sharp stones for their spears
  • Bones or stones for their arrows

FAMILY LIFE

  • All family members live in one room
  • Usually the parents and one child
  • Women were taught to pick berries and sew
  • Men were taught to hunt and protect the tribe

UNUSUAL CUSTOM

  • They did not have any particular customs
  • This is because of the Spanish using them as slaves
  • All that I can give you is they were skilled horse men
