  • Primarily hear appeals

HOW MEMBERS ARE ELECTED

  • Chosen by the President
  • Have to be approved by the Senate
  • Only branch not chosen by the people
  • 9 members

JUDICIAL PROCESS

  • Criminal proceedings can be tried under state or federal law
  • If someone is indicted, they appear infront of a judge and are charged
  • They are given time to see all evidence and prepare a case
  • If found guilty, judge decides a sentence

APPEALS

  • After a case is tried it may be appealed
  • Must show a legal error was made
  • Can not recieve any extra information
  • Can not appeal supreme court rulings
