WHEN WAS SHE BORN?

  • Julie Andrews was born on October 1, 1935 in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, England

WHAT WAS HER CHILDHOOD LIKE?

  • Her father was a school teacher
  • Her mother was a talented pianist, but longed for a carrer on stage.
  • Her parents divorced in WW2, and her mother remarried Ted Andrews, a singer.
  • Her father gave he voice lessons, and was inpressed with her musical ability.
  • At 8, she was sent to be taught by Lilian Styles-Allen, a concert singer.

HOW DID SHE BECOME FAMOUS?

  • Lilian Styles-Allen trained Julie to have the perfect diction she is known for.
  • In 1946, Julie made her debut singing with her father on a BBC variety show.
  • She gave her first solo at London's Stage Door Canteen.
  • She Was seen by two members of the Royal Family, the mother and sister of the Queen.
  • Her voice started atracting people in the theatrical buisness, and that 's how she became famous.

WHY SHOULD WE LOOK UP TO JULIE?
(Why is she a role model?)

Because she is very determined. When she hurt her vocal chord and couldn't sing, she didn't give up.
Instead she just found ways to go around the obstacle of not being able to sing.
