Exemplification- The film uses facts, statistics, and personal experiences to make it's point. The couple, Jen and Grants, share their experience throughout the whole movie by living off of food waste for six months. In that time they learn important facts about food waste and even meet up with people who grow the food and then share their experience. They had expert opinion from Dana Gunders, a scientist in food and agriculture.
Logos- The film uses factual evidence to prove that the food waste problem has gotten way out of hand. Example: 40% of all food grown is never eaten.
Pathos-The film uses personal experience to make it's point. The main characters in the film are a couple who live off of the food waste they collect at farms, supermarkets, restaurants,etc. It shows the enormous quantity of food wasted . They use evocative imagery to produce a sense of outrage in it's viewers . Also food growers tell how heartbreaking it is to see that most of their food is not marketable, although edible, because it doesn't fit the "standards'.
Inductive-The main idea of the documentary was to show how much food goes to waste. From then on it shows the causes of food waste, where it happens the most, why food isn't eaten, and what we can do to stop that enormous waste. It starts with a basic truth and then expands into more topics related to it.
There is a chart for bananas that growers use to sort out the acceptable and marketable bananas. It's based on length, color, and curvature of the banana.
