My Grandfather has a nomadic family background. My Grandfather came in through Nova Scotia from Macedonia for a better life. He came with his uncle, but was separated from his uncle. He was on his own but spoke several languages and was taken in by a Greek family and they helped him find his uncle.

What traditions (cultural and religious) does your family celebrate that may come from your family background?
Eastern Orthodox. So many of our traditions come cultural wrapped in religion. Lamb and easter at late night, lots of candles and incense and have a huge dinner at 3:00 in the morning. Red eggs contest. Stories shared among family.

How does your family connect to the country/culture where they came from? artifacts, recipes, heirlooms, stories
Mostly through food, church and relatives that still come over from the “old” country. Spinach pie, Kourabi (cookie - butter cookies with powdered sugar) and olives, feta cheese, pitadolcie (flaky butter pasterie with ) and whitebean soup.
