HISTORY

  • Katie Davis lived in Brentwood, Tennessee
  • Katie was 18 when she first traveled to Uganda

UGANDA

  • When Katie first went to Uganda, she was shocked at the amount
  • of children sitting by the side of the road or working in the fields
  • She started teaching kindergarten at an orphanage in 2007
  • When she was teaching kindergarten, she started noticing her
  • students were dropping out because they couldnt afford to go to school

UGANDA

  • After seeing the amount of children dropping out, Katie decided to start an organization.
  • The organization she started is called Amazima

ORGANIZATIONS

  • Katie's first organization that she started is called the Masese Feed Outreach
  • The Masese Feed Outreach provides food for people who are in desperate need for food
  • She also started the organization called Amazima
  • Amazima is a non-profit organization that pays for children to go to school.
  • The way they do this is by donations from sponsors. $300 is how much it costs to send a child to school.

CHILDREN

  • Katie Davis has adopted 13 orphaned girls in Uganda
  • One of her daughter's, Agnes, was rescued from a AIDS shelter that had collapsed in the night
  • Her youngest daughter, Patricia, was given to her by an HIV-positive mother who already had 11 children
  • All of her daughter's have either been abused or abandoned.
