Thoreau wanted to live in nature, away from people, and to his own. His purpose is to shown that it's not hard to live in nature to yourself. He wants us to know that we can learn from our experiences.

fROM SOLITUDE

“I go and come with a strange liberty in Nature, a part of herself. ”
Thoreau's prepose was to show our deep connection with nature. He believes and feels that the universe is rooted together. He also thinks that we need to connect.

FROM THE POND IN WINTER

“Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads. . . . ”
Thoreau knows that we must go through the harsh times in life. Even know times are harsh they are still beautiful, and have time for learning.

FROM SPRING

“where yesterday was cold gray ice there lay the transparent pond already calm and full of hope as in a summer evening, ”
Thoreau is telling us that after the bad times things get better. We need to be able to get through the tough times.

FROM CONCLUSION

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears”
Thoreau expresses that we all go through our journeys in life, and that we all are different. He thinks we all should go on our on journeys.
