1.
kelp the sea otters!
2.
SEa Otters can have a parasite
The parasite is a small thorny-headed worm.
Sea Otters get the parasite from crabs they eat.
3.
THis is a disaster!
Most young Sea Otters get the parasite.
Sadly, this parasite is fatal to the otters.
4.
Sea otters vs. fisherman
Sea otters compete with fisherman to get their food because they want the same food.
5.
here's the soltuion
Fishermen made an otter free zone.
Fishermen now fish without competing with the otters.

6.
A sea otter's relationship
The Sea Otter and Sea Kelp are in a mutualistic symbiotic relationship.
The relationship could happen if there was a overpopulation of sea urchins.
7.
here's the benefits
The Sea Kelp use the Sea Otter to eat the sea urchins.
The Sea Otter use the Sea Kelp as an anchor, when they sleep.
8.
Commensalism
Sea Otter have a relationship with the fish in the kelp forest.
But only one benefits, the other is not helped.
If there was a migration of sea urchins, this could happen.
9.
who benefits?
Sea Otters eat sea urchins that kill many kelp forest.
No forest means no home for the fish.
The Sea Otters are not harmed nor helped, so the fish benefit.
10.
Parasitism
Sea Otters can receive a deadly brain disease.
This disease is called Toxoplasma gondii, and it is in the sea now!
11.
ouch, that hurts!
Sea Otters get the parasite from Sea Lions or Seals.
The parasite gets somewhere to live.
The host get a fever, muscle aches, cyst ,and headaches.
12.
Adaptations
The Sea Otters have webbed feet, and fur that sheds water.
These adaptations help them survive in the sea.
13.
what caused this adaptation?
With these adaptions the Sea Otter can swim faster and escape predators.

14.
where are these adaptions from?
These adaptions come from the Sea Otter's ancestors.

15.
let's spill information about oil
Oil spills are some thing that effects the Sea Otters environment.
The Sea Kelp survive because they have mucus on them.
The environment will go through secondary succession to recover.
16.
let's swim back to health
The envioment can also be effected by the biodiverty.
If too many animals die it could be hard for the ecosystem to bounce back.

17.
How do they survive
Some animals may die, but new ones may move in.
Sea kelp survived the oil spill, so animals still have a habitat.
18.
sea otter and Human
Humans fish for food, retreve oil, and we do sports out in the ocean.
19.
Go splash away!
Humans have caused major damage to the ecosystem by oil spills.
Many Sea Otters die from oil spills.
20.
Let's spread awareness, not oil
Sea Otter groom most of the time, so they eat the oil
Eating the oil can be fatal to the otters sometimes.
21.
LET'S SEA HOW YOU CAN HELP!
You can help by funding the technology, that helps prevent oil spills and researching how to caputre leaked oil.
22.
You ought to help
Help by donating money to invent new techonology.
