hUMANISM IN EDUCATION

  • 4 *A HUMANISTIC APPROACH HELPS STUDENTS SEE THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL. iT IS DONE IN A WAY THAT EMPHASIZES ON TREATING OTHERS WITH COMPASSION AND RESPECT.
  • 5* sELF-EVALUATION, FEELINGS, WORTH, UNDERSTANDING HOW TO LEARN, AND A SAFE ENVIRONMENT IS KEY IN EDUCATION THROUGH A HUMANISTIC LENS.

hUMANISM AND THE STUDENT

  • 6* sTUDENTS SHOULD DEVELOP A RESOPNSIBILTY FOR WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED.
  • 7* Students should be creative with their work and be curious about the world and how it works.
  • 8* Students should be interested in the arts.
  • 9* Students should be in tune with their feelings and develop strong emotional connections with themselves and other living things.

Humanism and the teacher

  • 10* Teachers should work with students in the classroom to set realistic goals.
  • 11* Teachers should fascilatate project based assignments so that students can work with others and build relationship and stronger social skills.
  • 12* Teachers should constantly model to students what it looks like to work on your self and become a better person.
  • 13* Teachers should focus on the students and guide them to be the best version of themselves.

More on the humanist perspective

  • 14* Humanists believe that grades are not important rather the process of self reflection and self evaluation are much more significant. Grading is said to encourage working for a grade rather than personal satisfaction.
  • 15* Learning is seen as highly motivated and self-directed due to a students responsibility to want to learn and better them self.
  • 16* Humanists emphasize on vigorous oral and written exams. Communication is key and the way you communicate with others is imperative as well.
