CHILD LABOR

  • Children worked intead of education
  • Help earn money
  • Long grueling hours
  • Just because the economy was unstabalized

RUN AWAY

  • For better life
  • In boxcars
  • Teenagers [+12]
  • Some families runed away together
  • Other did it to survive, or help their families with one more mouth to feed

Conditions were terrible; children were homeless, hungry, uneducated, and lost

WHEN CHILDREN RUNNED AWAY...

  • Few jobs most of the kids went the wrong way:
  • Prostitution
  • Armed robbery
  • Commiting falonies

MANY WERE ORPHANS

  • Parents died
  • Gave them up for adoption
  • Boxcars run aways
  • More colored orphans
