THE LIFE OF MANASSEH

  • Manasseh is mentioned in 2 Kings 21:1-17 and 2 Chronicles 33:1-20
  • Manasseh was the son of king Hezekiah and Hephzibah
  • He began his reign at 12 years old
  • He reigned for 55 years

THE LIFE OF MANASSEH

  • It was an evil reign
  • He rebuilt the heathen altars that his father had destroyed
  • He sacrificed his own kids as burnt offerings
  • He angered the Lord by encouraging all types of evil
  • He also murdered large amounts of innocent people

THE LIFE OF MANASSEH

  • He ignored warnings from the Lord
  • As punishment God sent Assyrian armies
  • They captured him and took him to exile
  • While in captivity he came to his senses and cried out to the Lord
  • The Lord answered his prayers and sent him back to Jerusalem

THE LIFE OF MANASSEH

  • He removed the foreign idols from the hills and Temple
  • He tore down pagan alters
  • He rebuilt the altar of the Lord and offered sacrifices
  • When he died he was buried beneath his palace
  • His son Amon became the new king
