Fungi

Characteristics

  • Most fungi grow as tubular filaments called hyphae. An interwoven mass of hyphae is called a mycelium.
  • Fungi disperse themselves by releasing spores, usually windblown.
  • Fungi are heterotrophic.

What they aren't

  • The aren't flowers with leaves
  • They don't do photosynthisis

Protista

Characteristics

  • mostly unicellular, some are multicellular (algae)
  • can be heterotrophic or autotrophic
  • most live in water (though some live in moist soil or even the human body)
  • ALL are eukaryotic (have a nucleus)other list item here
