BACTERIA

  • Bacteria is a single celled organism that can live in an human.
  • Eubacteria and Archaea
  • Eubacteria is a bacteria with rigid cell walls, which is also a true bacteria
  • Archaea is a group of microorganisms that have RNA sequences.
  • Bacteria are prokaryotic organisms that reproduce asexually. Some bacteria are capable of transferring pieces of their genes to other bacteria.

BACTERIA cONT.

  • Examples of diseases caused by bacteria
  • Anthrax
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Botulism
  • Brucellosis

PROTISTS

  • An organism belonging, in an older classification system.
  • Protist includes: protozoans, bacteria, and single celled algae
  • Animal-like protists are heterotrophic organisms and Plant-like protists are photoautotrophs
  • The protist swim in a flagella form of movement.
  • Zooflagellates reproduce asexually caused by mitosis and cytokinesis.

PROTISTS CONT.

  • Mitosis is a process where a cell has previously replicated by splitting into 2.
  • Cytokinesis is the process where the cytoplasm divides a eukaryotic cell into two daughter cells

FUNGI

  • Fungi are heterotroph eukaryotes that have cell walls.
  • They absorb whatever nutrients are on the outside of an organism.
  • Molds have little spores spreaded on them and mushrooms have a stem and grow on the ground.

PLANTS (GENERAL INFO.)

  • Soil, Sunlight, Water make up a plant
  • A non-vascular plant is a plant with less tissue types, have no xylem, stomata, or internal airspace.
  • Vascular plants is a large group of plants called land plants that have tissues for conducting water and minerals.
  • Plants are important because they produce glucose and oxygen. Plants intake carbon dioxide.

PLANTS (REPRODUCTION)

  • Non-seed plants reproduce asexually and do not create seeds.
  • Flowering plants reproduce by pollen represents a sperm and ovule represents the egg. Pistil is a name for female reproduction and the stamen is the male

ANIMALS (GENERAL INFO.)

  • All animals have some type of sense (taste, touch, hear, smell, eyesight)
  • They can all move and most have two or four legs. Some move with their body.
  • Some get there food by hunting some eat plants.
  • Most animals reproduce sexual meaning they have a mate but some animals can reproduce asexually.

SIMPLE ANIMALS

  • Jellyfish are considered simple animals because they have little characteristics. They just free swim (basically float).
  • They get there food by filtering.

ARTHROPODS

  • An insect is a small breathing arthropod
  • An arachnid is a eight legged insect that consist of four legs and a body with two segments.
  • An crustacean is a creature that contains of the head, the thorax, and the abdomen.
  • Athropods have different ways of getting food such as Scavenging and the others will hunt for their food and some will just eat algae.

AMPHIBIANS / REPTILES

  • An amphibian is a cold-blooded vertebrae that has the characteristics of an aquatic larva with gills.
  • A reptile is a cold-blooded vertebrae that lays eggs and have a external covering of scales.
  • Reptiles and Amphibians get their food by hunting for it.

FISH

  • A fish is a vertebrae that has gills, scales, and fins.
  • Fish get their food by swimming and hunting.

BIRDS

  • A bird is vertebrae that has beaks, feather, and wings.
  • Birds fly and hunt for prey

MAMMALS

  • A mammal is an warm blooded animal that lays eggs and has whiskers, fur, and a vertebrae.
  • A carnivore is an organism that eats meat for its energy and nutrients.
  • A omnivore is an organism that eats meat and plants to get there energy and nutrients.
  • A herbivore is an organism that eat plants to get there energy and nutrients.
