  • The founder of the Roman Empire.
  • The first emperor of the Roman Empire.
  • He was birthed by Atia and Gaius Octavius.
  • He was of short stature, handsome and well proportioned and he possessed that commodity so rare in rulers - grace. Though he suffered from bad teeth and was generally of feeble health. His body was covered in spots and he had many birthmarks scattered over his chest and belly.

  • Nero was Roman Emperor from 54 to 68, and the last in the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
  • Nero was adopted by his grand-uncle Claudius to become his heir and successor and succeeded to the throne in 54 following Claudius' death.
  • Nero focused much of his attention on diplomacy, trade and enhancing the cultural life of the empire, but according to the historian Tacitus, he was viewed by the Roman people as compulsive and corrupt.
  • He ordered theatres built and promoted athletic games.

  • Roman emperor from 117 to 138.
  • Hadrian is known for building Hadrian's Wall, which marked the northern limit of Britannia.
  • He also rebuilt the Pantheon and constructed the Temple of Venus and Roma.
  • Philhellene in most of his tastes, he is considered by some to have been a humanist, and he is regarded as one of the Five Good Emperors.

  • Roman Emperor for three months, from 15 January to 16 April 69.
  • He was the second emperor of the Year of the Four Emperors.
  • Otho belonged to an ancient and noble Etruscan family, descended from the princes of Etruria and settled at Ferentinum (currently Ferento, near Viterbo) in Etruria.

  • A member of the Flavian dynasty, Titus succeeded his father Vespasian upon his death, thus becoming the first Roman Emperor to come to the throne after his own biological father.
  • Prior to becoming Emperor, Titus gained renown as a military commander, serving under his father in Judea during the First Jewish–Roman War.

  • Caligula was a member of the house of rulers conventionally known as the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
  • Caligula's biological father was Germanicus, and he was the nephew and adopted son of Emperor Tiberius.

  • Roman emperor from AD 69 to AD 79.
  • Vespasian founded the Flavian dynasty that ruled the Empire for twenty-seven years.
  • Vespasian was from an equestrian family that rose to the senatorial rank under the Julio–Claudian emperors.
