Koala Biome/Habitat

  • Grasslands are found in every continent except Anartica
  • Climate:hot summers and cold winters
  • Average rainfall:20 to 50 inches per year
  • Vegetation: mostly types of grass, a few shrubs and trees
  • Drought and fine prevent trees and shrubs from establishing

ANIMALS

  • Herbivores: koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats
  • Eat grass, leaves, and roots
  • Apex predator: dingoes
  • Eat almost every animal

KOALA DESCRIPTION

  • Grey-brown fur
  • Big, circular ears
  • Large paws
  • Tiny tails
  • Their young are called joeys

  • Eat a few dozen types of eucalyptus
  • Predators: dingoes and large birds of prey
  • Prefer cool temperatures
  • Sometimes eat a little dirt to help digest eucalyptus
