WHERE IS THE KOMBAI TRIBE?

ACCOMODATION

• Many of the houses are built in the trees, often up to 20m high
• This helps keep away pesky mosquitos
• And to keep safe from rival tribes who want to kill you

WHAT WILL I EAT?

• The Kombai tribe are self-sufficient from the forest
• they hunt pigs and other forest animals, fish& eat beetles and plants
• cook meat by heating stones on a fire, wrapping the meat in leaves, and placing the hot stones on top
• As food is easily found in the forest, none is stored
• The kombai tribe have also been known to practice cannibalism

TRADITIONS AND VALUES

• They eat evil peoples brains and stomachs to get rid of the badness
• Evil people are called khakua kumu

THEY ARE WARM AND WELCOMING

ACTIVITIES

MOST ACTIVITIES ARE DONE OUTSIDE

They sometimes hold parties in which they invite other tribes to join them. This usually happens to repay them for parties they have held or to clear their names after a khakua kumu attack on their tribe

SMOKING IS PART OF THEIR LIFESTYLE

BEAUTY TREATMENTS

They cut down trees and leave them for about a month before they come back to them, by now insects and worms have started to live in the tree. These worms provide a high quality ear clean

As they don't wear shoes, their feet are tougher than leather. So why not indulge in the "thorn walk" which will leave your feet soft and luxurious, and not at all bloody
