PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Kyle and Friends Explore the Suamico RIver
Kyle, Travis, and Matt hopped on there wheelers and head to the Suamico river to go ice fishing. Kyle had a Honda three wheeler, Travis had a Yamaha go-kart, and Matt had a Ski-doo snowmobile
Once they got to the Suamico river, it looked like a great day to fish. The sun was shining and Kyle thought the ice looked good enough to walk on. Kyle read that the department of natural resources said that four inches of ice is safe to walk on.
They started drilling their holes. the ice was about seven inches where they were fishing, which is only safe for snowmobiles or other small vehicles. They started fishing.
After about a half hour, Travis and Matt only caught one Bluegill each. That is a type of panfish. So they decide to move to a new spot.
Matt and Kyle journeyed out towards thinner ice, they could see right through the ice and saw some bigger panfish. They stayed on the ice because they did not hear any cracking so thought it was safe.
They saw many kinds of fish swim by, they saw some perch, bluegill and some smallmouth bass. After a couple of minutes, Kyle had caught four fish and Matt had three. They were having way more fun than before.
Matt called Travis over to join the fun. So Travis started up his go-kart and drove over. Kyle heard the ice crack just once. He thought it was still safe.
The temperature was rising, the holes were not freezing over as fast. Water freezes at thirty two degrees fahrenheit. Travis had caught five fish, Matt had seven, and Kyle had five fish also.
Matt was watching through the ice and saw a huge Northern Pike swim by. He decided to go out ahead of it to see if he could catch it, but he was only standing on what looked like three inches of ice.
Matt still stood on that thin ice hoping to catch that monster fish. He still did not hear any cracking and still thought it was safe.
But then, he heard ice crack all around him! he started running towards the thicker ice by the others, but his stomping broke the ice.
Kyle rushed over and pulled him out to safety. Matt was soaking wet. So they brought him into Kyle’s pop up shanty to get warmed up and dry by the heater.
As Matt warmed up, he realized how silly it was to go out on that thin ice, just for a fish. He could have drowned! What a scary thing to happen to a guy. Kyle should have been more honest about the ice thickness out there.
After about half an hour, Matt was warmed up and dry. so they wanted to go back out on the thicker ice, and catch that monster fish.
They all drilled there holes But after a whole hour of only catching small perch, Travis and Kyle wanted to call it a day and head back home. But Matt wanted to stay.
While Matt was still fishing, Travis road his go-kart, and Kyle road his three wheeler. They thought fishing there became too boring.
The sun was setting. So Kyle and Travis headed back over to Matt to tell him that they should leave. But on the way over, They saw Matt get a bite. He must have hooked the big one!
And sure enough, Matt had caught a womper! Matt was so happy that he did not give up! So everyone packed up and drove off into the sunset to go home and fellet up there catches.
Matt told his mom how fun the day was. Besides almost drowning. He also learned to never give up, and to be smart when he is out on the ice, Kyle learned how important it is to be honest.
Maybe some day, Travis, Matt, and Kyle will go out on that Suamico river once again, and catch bigger and better fish. They cam remember how much fun they had that day, and the lessons they learned.
