LA FERIA DE SAN FERMÍN

HISTORY

• It began as a way to move the bulls from Pamplona's corral to it's bull ring
• It is in honor of St. Fermín the Parton saint of the basque region
• Children and adults would heard the bulls with shouts and sticks
• St. Fermín had started this by always herding the bulls
• Since 1924, 14 people has been killed throughout the festival, the main cause is alcohol

WHAT IS THE FESTIVAL?

• A group of daredevils get together and get chased after by bulls
• This happens every year from July 6-14
• The event usually takes only a few minutes and travels throughout the city
• It all starts off when two small rockets are launched
• After they go off, 6 bulls and many steers are released into the city on a high rampage

• They say that this is hurting animals and people
• Because of the deaths a select few doesn't approve if this festival
• Statistics say that it's out dated and they should make up a new festival
• Without the harming of others
