LACTOSE INTOLERANCE

1).she was going on about how every time she drinks milk or eats butter that she starts to have these cramps and gas. I thought of some things that would have those symptoms and the first thing I thought of was lactose intolerance. So we had some tests done and it turns out that she was lactose intolerance.

WHAT ARE THE GENERAL SYMPTOMS?

  • Cramps
  • Gas
  • Diarrah
  • Pain in lower belly
  • Loose stools

4. What are the causes of the disorder? How did it happen?
______________________
Lactose intolerance is caused by a deficiency of the intestinal enzyme lactase that splits lactose into two smaller sugars, glucose and galactose, and allows lactose to be absorbed from the intestine.

5. How does it affect their digestive system and/or any other organs, etc?
______________________
It affects your digestive system the most because it begins in the small intestine where cells don't produce enough of the enzyme that helps break down lactose, the sugar in dairy products.

6. Are there any tests that you might order to verify they have this?
______________________
1).Hydrogen breath test. This is the most accurate lactose intolerance test. Before the test, you need to avoid certain foods and medicines and cigarettes.
2).Lactose tolerance test. This test measures your blood sugar after you eat or drink lactose.

7. What are the treatments for this disease/disorder?
______________________
There are no treatments for lactose intolerance. But there are some products that you can use so that you can still drink like milk and in butter ect;.

8).Is the disorder temporary or permanent? How long will I have to deal with it? Is there a cure, etc.?
______________________
There is no cure for lactose intolerance but there is no products that you can use. And other people would limit that amount of dairy products that they use.

9).Any initial treatments such as surgery?
______________________
There is no surgery for lactose intolerance. But there is some medicine that you can take such as.

Broccoli
Calcium-fortified products, such as breads and juices
Canned salmon
