WHAT IS LAND POLLUTION?
It is the deposition of solid or liquid waste.
It can be found underground and in soils.
The waste that causes land pollution are classifed as solid waste.

HOW IS LAND POLLUTION MEASURED?

1 ton of liquid wastes

EXAMPLES OF MEASUREMENTS
The average person produces 4.3 pounds of waste per day.

In 2008 there was 22 million tons of plastic products dumped.

EFFECTS OF LAND POLLUTION
Can cause respiratory problems like asthma attacks.
It can cause skin diseases and neuromuscular blockage and rashes.
Can cause lung cancer and kidney damage.
Can also cause developmental damage to children.

OTHER PROBLEMS
The toxic materials can pollute the soil.
It can come in contact with your skin.
It was be washed into water sources and rivers.
Vegetables and other plants can be grown it polluted soil.

HOW TO PREVENT LAND POLLUTION
Reduce, reuse, recycle
Buy biodegradable products
Don't dump motor oil on the ground
Buy products that have little packaging
Follow anti-litter campaigns
