Valleys

  • A valley is in the middle of two mountains or hills.
  • Valleys can be more than a hundred miles long.

  • A plateau has steep sides and a flat top.
  • There are 2 different kinds of plateaus the dissected and volcanic plateau.
  • Ice plateaus cover most of Greenland and Antarctica.

Plain
A plain is a large flat area of land with not a lot of trees.

Bay

  • A bay is made by land and water
  • A bay gets water from a river
  • That water goes to an ocean

Peninsula

  • A Peninsula is land that is mostly surrounded by water.
  • One part of it is attached to a main land.
  • The word Peninsula comes from the Latin word paene insula.
  • Which means almost an island.
  • The worlds largest peninsula is in Arabia covering 1 million square miles.
