VALLEY

  • Definition: A lower level of land normally with rivers flowing through it between mountains.
  • Example of Landform: La Gran Sabana, Venezuela

PLAIN

  • Definition: A large area of flat land.
  • Example of Plain: Atlantic Coastal Plain

REEF

  • Definition: A ridge of rock, coral, or sand on or above the surface of water.
  • Example of Reef: Great Barrier Reef

PLATEAU

  • Definition: A higher level of the ground.
  • Example: The Colorado Plateau

ISLAND

  • Definition: A piece of land surrounded by water.
  • Example: Burmuda The Bahamas

RIVER

  • Definition: A large natural stream of water.
  • Example: Mississippi River

LAKE

  • Definition: A big body of water surrounded by land.
  • Example: Lake Shawnee

MOUNTIAN

  • Definition: A large steep hill; that formed from the rising of Earth's surface.
  • Example: The Himalayan Mountains

STRAIT

  • Definition: A smaller body of water that conects 2 larger bodies of water.
  • Example: The San Bernardino Strait

PENINSULA

  • Definition: A piece of land mostly surrounded by water.
  • Example:The Arabian Peninsula

ISTHMUS

  • Definition: A strip of land with oceans on both sides of it, that connects two bigger areas of land.
  • Example: The Isthmus that connect North & South America.

ARCHIPELAGO

  • Definition: A bunch of islands next to each other.
  • Example: Hawaii

CANYON

  • Definition: A big rock\gorge.
  • Example: Grand Canyon

DELTA

  • Definition: The mouth of the river flows around land and goes to oceans.
  • Example: The Delta of the Nile River

GULF

  • Definition: A part of the ocean that moslty surrounded by land.
  • Example:Gulf of Mexico
