HOW THEY FORM

  • Many of the ranges form on earths tectonic plates.
  • They both have tremendous energies so they collide.
  • There collision is like two buses colliding in a head on collision.
  • From that collision they crumble.
  • From that they shoot up and make a mountain range.

EFFECT MOUNTAINS GIVE

  • The wind is lifted by the mountains effecting places as far as a thousand miles away.
  • The cool winds coming off the mountains cause the atmosphere to cool in.
  • That cool air mixes with the warm air.
  • That cause clouds to build over the mountains and produce precipitation.
  • This mostly happens in the middle of the day when the sun is out.

WHY THE HIGHER YOU GET THE COLDER IT IS.

  • You would think it was getting hotter because you getting closer to the sun.
  • That's not right!
  • The distance we are from the sun is so far the mountains are insignificant to the distance.
  • The reason it gets colder is because of the thinner dryer air.
  • The thinner air absorbs less heat causing the temp to decrease.
