ISTHMUS
- A narrow strip of land, with water on both sides, that connects to larger land masses
- examples: Panama;
Tehuantepec, Mexico

CANYON
- A deep narrow depression in the earth's surface, often having a river running through it.
- example: Grand Canyon,
USA; Colca Canyon, Peru

PLAIN
-Elevated flat land
-example: Great Plains,USA
Western Plains, Australia

PLATEAU
-A broad expanse of generally high and flat land, also called a tableland.
-example: Island in the Sky,
USA; Kukenan Tupui, Venezuela

VALLEY
-An elongated lowland between mountains, hills, or other uplands.
-examples: Kaghan Valley, Pakistan; Cerce Valley, France

PENINSULA
-A mass of land almost entirely surrounded by water. It is usually connected to the mainland by a narrow rock.
-examples: most of Florida,
USA; Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico; Baja Peninsula, Mexico

STRAIT
-A narrow passage of water connecting two larger bodies of water
-examples: Strait of Gibraltar, Spain-Morocco; Strait of Megellan, Chile; Strait of Malacca, Malaysia-Indonesia

DELTA
-The triangular shaped land found at the mouth of some large rivers.
-examples: Nile River Delta, Sudan etc; Mississippi Delta, USA

ARCHIPELAGO
-Either a group of islands or a body of water that has many islands in it.
-examples: Galápagos Islands, Ecuador; Hawaii, USA

CAPE
-A point of land extending into the sea; it is usually smaller than a peninsula.
-example: Cape Cod, USA; Cape Dorset, Canada
