River

  • An example of a river is the Kansas River or the Mississippi River

Lake

  • a large body of water surrounded by land.
  • An example would the the Shawnee Lake

Mountain

  • a large natural elevation of the earth's surface rising abruptly from the surrounding level; a large steep hill.
  • A famous example of a mountain is Mount Everest

STRAIT

  • a narrow passage of water connecting two seas or two large areas of water.
  • An example is the Strait of Gibraltar

PENINSULA

  • a piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water.
  • A well common one is the state of Florida

Isthmus

  • a narrow strip of land with sea on either side, forming a link between two larger areas of land.
  • An example is Isthmus of Mansheya

ARCHIPELAGO

  • A group of Islands
  • Hawaiian Islands are a good example of Archipelago

CANYON

  • a deep gorge, typically one with a river flowing through it.
  • The Grand Canyon in Arizona is a famous one

  • A usually triangular alluvial deposit at the mouth of a river.
  • Wax Lake Delta

GULF

  • A large area of a sea or ocean partially enclosed by land, especially a long landlocked portion of sea opening through a strait.
  • Gulf of Mexico
