  • It took 400 men to carve it
  • Washington's nose is 21 ft. long
  • 3 million visitors each year

  • 6,000 visitors a day
  • Symbol of the Presidency, the U.S. government, and the Am. people
  • 1600 Pennsylvania Ave
  • President John Adams and his wife were the first residents

Golden Gate Bridge

Golden Gate Bridge

  • San Francisco, California
  • Suspension bridge that's 1mile wide and 3 miles long
  • Took a little over 4 yrs. to build
  • It's always been painted orange
  • 110,000 vehicles cross the bridge each day
  • It cost 35 million dollars to build and took 4 years to build
  • It was completed in April of 1937
  • There are six lanes of traffic on the bridge

Natchez Trace

444 miles of road from Natchez, MS. to Nashville, TN.

Natchez Trace

  • Started as Native Am. trails used in 1700's
  • It was made a road in 1800
  • Natchez Trace Parkway and Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail generally follow the old Natchez Trace
  • Today there are 4 separate trails totaling more than 60 miles

Grand Canyon

  • One of the 7 wonders of the world
  • 20 layers of rock throughout the Grand Canyon
  • 5 million people visit each year. It's the second most visited National Park. (Great Smoky Mountains is first.)
  • Created by the Colorado River over 6 million years

  • It was a gift from France in 1886
  • The tablet has the date, July 4, 1776, inscribed
  • A broken chain lies at the feet
  • It stands 151 feet tall and 305 feet from the ground to the torch
  • Visitors must climb 354 stairs to reach the statue's crown
  • Four million people visit every year
  • The seven spikes in the crown represent the seven continents
