WHAT IS A LATENT PRINT Examiner JOB?

THEY COLLECT FINGER PRINTS FROM A CRIME SCENCE AND THEY COMPARE FINGERPRINTS.

WHAT IS A FINGERPRINT?

  • Fingerprints are the raised ridges, called friction ridges , on the palm side of your fingers, hand and soles of your feet.

HOW DO WE FIND LATENT FINGERPRINTS?

  • Various chemical, physical and photographic methods are used to develop latent fingerprints. The processing methods used are dependent upon the type of surface on which the print may be.

HOW ARE FINGERPRINTS USEFUL IN CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS.

  • Fingerprints can place people at a scene or in contact with objects used in crimes and may provide leads for father investigation or evidence useful in court.

HOW DOES ONE BECOME A LATENT PRINT EXAMINER

  • A latent print examiner has to complete a 4 year degree usually in a field of science such as biology or chemistry. Currently, several schools have forensic science programs.

HOW MUCH DO THEY GET PAID?

  • 48,000 to 50,000 dollars a year depending on where you live.
