PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Laura Ingalls Wilder

Laura Ingalls Wilder was born on February 7, 1867, to Charles and Caroline Ingalls, in the woods of Wisconsin (Gornick & Cheng, 2017)

Laura was one of three daughters in the Ingalls family.

The dreams of Laura's father would produce a life of prairie travel for the Ingalls family, and a career as a children's author for herself (Showalter, 2017).

Laura Ingalls was married to Almanzo Wilder on August 25, 1885, in DeSmet, South Dakota.

Almanzo and Laura had one child, a daughter Rose Wilder.

In 1894, the family moved to Missouri, living here for the rest of their lives.

With the encouragement of her daughter Rose Wilder Lane, Laura began writing the stories of her childhood as the daughter of a pioneering family. Her first book "Little House in the Big Woods" was a success and to this day children love to read the stories. She went on the write eight more books in the series about her growing up (Fraser, 2017).
