Cesar Chavez

WHAT DID HE WORK FOR???

  • Cesar dedicated his life to improving how farm workers were treated
  • He witnessed the harsh conditions they worked in
  • They were unpaid, exploited, lived in shacks, and had no facilities.

NFCA

  • National Farm Workers Association
  • Later became the United Farm Workers
  • Chavez led boycotts and peaceful marches
  • Cesar also made several hunger strikes

THE FAST

  • Chavez completed his 36 day fast on Aug 21, 1988
  • The fast was past on by Cezar to Jessie Jackson
  • From there it was passed on to other celebrities and lesders
  • It is believed that his hunger strikes contributed to his death
  • In 1994 after his death he was awarded the Presidential Medal Of Freedom
