Technology advancement
The technology officers have today is a much more advantage into solving the crime much faster. For examples gps navigation systems let them get to where they need to be much faster and know exactly where it's at. And it could be something like the type of cars they use as patrol cars , much faster for high speed chases.

New patrol cars
The cars that they use now for patrol vehicles are much more of an advantage if they go on some type of chase. The past due vehicles they use would be no match for a present tuned up car.
