Wait.. What is table-talk?

TABLE-TALK is going to be a thinking routine that involves text analysis and verbal discussion with people near your table. Yes, you may get up and move around. Ideally this would already be a pre-established norm in my classroom.

Law 7: The Law of Respect

  • “People naturally follow leaders stronger than themselves,” -Maxwell
  • So, what causes one person to respect and follow another?

Law 7: The Law of Respect

  • Is it because of the qualities of the leader?
  • Or is it due to process the person follows?
  • Or maybe the circumstances?

Where do you see this in the education world? How would you apply these strategies in your classroom?

  • People are intuitive in their area of strength.

Law 8: LEADER INTUITION

How does this apply to your experiences in the classroom? Are you a facts or feelings person? How does this play out when you interact with students?

Law 9: The Law of Magnetism

  • “Who you are is who you attract”
  • This attraction is not determined by what you want, but by who you are.

After learning about the Law of Magnetism you may fall into one of two categories: (1) You might be disappointed with people you’re attracting or (2) You might be happy with people you’re attracting.

Through the lens of education, how does this law of Magnetism apply? Are the qualities in our students that we dislike encouraged or reinforced by our attitude or reaction when it occurs?
