  • Government type orginization
  • Founded in 1920
  • This was because of the Paris Peace Conference
  • Based in Geneva, Switzerland

SALESIAN'S SUCESS

  • Silesia is a region between Poland and Germany
  • Salesians had to chose to join Germany or Poland
  • 700,000 Salesians voted for Germany
  • 500,000 Salesians voted for Poland
  • The League of Nations had to decide where the Salesians would go

  • In the end the League of Nations decided
  • That they would split the Salesians based on the votes
  • The decision was accepted by Germany, Poland
  • And the Salesians

MEMEL'S FAILURE

  • Memel was a part in Lithuania
  • Most people who lived in Memel
  • Were Lithuanians
  • So the government declared that
  • The Lithuanians should govern Memel

  • The Lithuanians invaded the German's port
  • The League gave into the Lithuanian's guesture by
  • Making the port an international zone
  • In order for the League to make that decision,
  • The Lithuanians had to use force to settle the agreement
