What is a learner profile?
It is ...
- A kind of formative assessment that informs the teacher about student's interests and learning styles and can help when planning content, process, and product.
How can I collect this information?
- Students can complete profile cards about themselves.
- Parents can complete surveys about their children.
- It would be best to collect this information at the beginning of the school year to inform lesson planning right away.
Learner Profile Tips!
- Learner profiles can and should be differentiated. They can be discussed with the students as a full group, individually and with parents as well to help inform learning strategies at home and school.
- Learner profiles help students to become aware of their own learning. Teachers can hang these profiles in the class for students to reflect on.
Learner Profile Tips!
- Learner profiles should consider a student's cognitive style, style of thinking and processing, group orientation and the environment of the classroom.
Teachers can use learner profiles to inform their lesson planning to teach in different ways to meet learners needs.
three-Dimenstional Lesson planning
