Project-based Learning

Problem

A problem is posed

Then students:

  • investigate
  • problem solve
  • design

Con't...

  • make decisions

Real Life Practice

Students can practice on-the-job problem solving

Benefits

  • communication Skills
  • collecting data and drawing conclusions
  • designing plans and/or experiments
  • Critically thinking/self-management

Graphic Organizer

Sensory Input

  • 5-7 items at a time are taken into the Sensory Memory
  • Sensory Memory screens incoming stimuli
  • Usually unconscious processing information

Deleted or to Working memory

  • After sensory memory is completed then stimuli is deleted
  • If stimuli is not deleted then it is forwarded to Working memory

Working Memory

  • In working memory stimuli is assigned meaning
  • This meaning is linked to other information

Long Term Memory

  • If stimuli is practiced it can be sent to the long term memory
  • in the long term memory stimuli can be retrieved when needed

If you can graphically Stimulate Students:

  • They can input it to the Sensory Memory
  •  Link stimuli to meaningful matter then it can go to Working Memory
  • If stimuli is practiced it can be committed to the long term memory

Socratic Dialogue

Teacher Poses a Question

Ensure that it is open-ended question

Students Discuss

Ensure students do not interrupt each other

Professor keeps class on track

Teacher or Leader
