Leon Trotsky started his career off strong. He was very busy in his different groups he was involved in along with helping out in the political world. He was involved in many things.

Family
- 5th child
- Ukrainian Jewish family (wealthy farmers)
- mother: Anna Lvovna, father: David Leontyevich Bronstein
- moved to Odessa to go to a Jewish school

His family did not struggle with money. They were a wealthy farming family that started off in a small village and later on moved to a larger city. His parents wanted the best for their son Leon so they sent him to Odessa to learn in a Jewish school.

Trotsky joined the Bolsheviks and instantly became involved as a leader. He did not work his way up, he jumped to his leadership position in the Communist Party. He was also one of the seven members of the first ever Politburo groups. He also was a founder and commander of the Red Army. The Red Army was the Socialist Republic army and air force.

Trotskyism

  • based on the ideas of Leon Trotsky
  • helped form a Marxist school
  • this school had ideas that opposed Stalinist Theories

The End

  • Oct. 1927- removed from his position of power
  • Nov. 1927- kicked out of Communist Party
  • Jan. 1928- exiled to Alma-Ata
  • Feb. 1929- banished from Soviet Union
One after another, Leon was pushed out of everything he worked so hard for.

Assassinated by Ramón Mercader
Ramón Mercader was a Spanish communist who murdered Leon Trotsky.
