STUDENTS' PRESPECTIVE

They should be stated from the students’ perspective – not what the teacher will teach but what the students will learn. To focus on learner achievement, aims can usefully begin with the phrase, “By the end of the lesson, the students will have ...”

include a context

the topic in which language is clarified and practised or the subject / genre of reading / listening text or a freer speaking / writing activity

It should be relevant to the learners' real world needs

specific language area

The language area to be covered with some specific examples and where applicable limitations (e.g. not just "the present perfect" but "the present perfect to talk about life experience."
