WHAT IS LEUKEMIA?

  • Leukemia is a type of blood cancer that begins with the bone marrow
  • It starts with white blood cells, and they are not able to fight off germs
  • Bone marrow creates abnormal blood cells, which clot the bloodstream
  • The two types are acute leukemia and chronic leukemia

RELATING TO THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

  • Leukemia is a cancer classified in the circulatory system
  • This system consists of blood, which makes this disease part of it
  • Leukemia eventually affects the heart; the heart pumps the blood that is abnormal

CURE AND TREATMENT

  • Most people with leukemia are treated with chemothereapy
  • Other treatments include radiation, bone marrow transplant, and more
  • The majority of people can be cured of the disease if they are treated
