LIE VS. LAY

  • Lay: Put down gently or carefully or be situated in a horizontal position
  • Is a transitive verb
  • It almost always has an object
  • "She laid the baby in his crib"

  • Lie:To be at rest
  • Always an intransitive verb
  • Doesn't express the kind of action that can be done to anything. It is conjugated in this manner.
  • " I lie here everyday "
