PRESENTATION OUTLINE

How will Islamic beliefs about life after death affect a Muslims daily life?

WHAT DO THEY BELIEVE?

  • Each person has a 'spirit' given to him or her by God.
  • During their lives, people's deeds shape and mould their spirits.
  • When a person dies, their spirit remains.
  • Their spirit stays as they had moulded it whilst alive.
  • They do not believe in reincarnation.

WHAT DO THEY BELIEVE?

  • Muslims do not fear death, as they do not believe that it's the end of everything.
  • Muslims believe that life is a sacred gift from Allah.
  • Allah will judge all people, and make a decision about their future.
  • On 'Judgement Day', Allah will take with Him all those who have lived good lives.
  • Those who pass the final judgement will live with Allah in Heaven for eternity.

'It is as if God has given each person a piece of soft clay. It is then up to the individual to shape it into something beautiful or ugly by his deeds.'

DAILY LIFE

  • It encourages people to do good and stops them from doing evil.
  • A good deed will always benefit them, even if it isn't obvious.
  • A bad deed will have to be answered for, in the next life, if not now.
  • It teaches Muslims to look at the inner person, not material things.
  • The inner spirit survives forever, whilst possessions are lost at death.
