Claim
Life for African slaves was extremely difficult and harsh in the 1700's.

This presentation will use reasons and evidence to show an aspect of colonial life using the work of Diane Hart (2005) from the text book entitled History Alive: The United States Through Industrialism

Life for African Slaves was extremely difficult and harsh.

To illustrate , Olaudah Equiano was just ten years old when he was put on a slave ship. The terrified boy refused to eat, hoping "for the last friend, Death, to relieve me."

Unlike other people during the 1700's, slaves had little to no hope of making a better life.

For example, a slaves position was fixed at the bottom of colonial society.

Counterclaim
Other might say that being a slave is the same as a job. With the pay of food, clothing and shelter. But the working conditions were harsh, they had no freedom, and the benefits of having an actual pay check.
